Figure 7.   The TIPA and IPA reflected flux errors are correlated with the cloud side area. The side area is defined as the sum of the mean thickness of each cloud times its perimeter. The cloud mask is set to optical depths greater than 5 to select radiatively significant pixels. A good linear correlation is obtained, especially for overhead sun.
